Health Insurance Reform Continued
I keep shaking my head when I listen to the news today. The whole health care issue is such a difficult bill to pass. It's been 60 years in the making and uncertainty still exists whether or not a public option will be put into the final bill. And if it goes in, in what capacity will there be a public option?

The bill that was passed today in the finance committee is not a bill that will help the American people. It benefits the insurance companies as there is no cost control and the public option is still a question mark. I feel really disgusted by how our politicians act. It disgusts me that we have to depend on a single senator - Olympia Snow of Maine in order to get something passed. Ms. Snow does not represent the entire United States of America. Ms. Snow represents a small fraction of the state of Maine, which is half a percent of the total U.S. population. Why does she have so much power? I thought the majority ruled?!?!?. It is too much drama in my opinion and too much focus on one senator. I just don't get it.

Furthermore, the insurance companies have already shown their true colors. Last week they declared that if the finance committee health care bill passes today they will skyrocket people's premiums by 40%-50%. Today a spokes person came out and admitted that they only looked at part of the bill and did not see how much they would save with the bill passed in the finance committee. Thus, they tried to retract their statement.

In my honest opinion, we'll be fucked either way because health insurance companies will raise their premiums just to spite us. We are the true victims and those that keep supporting the nay-sayers are truly part of the problem at this point. They're just adding to the problem. I try to remain hopeful but I don't have much of faith at this point. It seems like politicians deserve a public option but that does not apply to the rest of the United States population that actually votes these people in.

This is not a democracy. True democracy would mean all of America votes for health care reform. Not Olympia Snow or some other idiot that could care less. These politicians care only about their personal bottom line and keeping the back doors open for insurance companies to continue lobbying big dollars against true reform.
